Kimming Yap was born in Singapore, an island off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula.

He graduated in Industrial Design from Nanyang Polytechnic of Singapore and later received his Master Degree in Design from Domus Academy in Milan.

He has worked with design studios in Singapore, Hong Kong, and with renowned duo designers Setsu & Shinobu Ito in Italy, working on projects for manufacturers and exclusive clients.

He is a recipient of numerous awards including the Young Asian Designers Award, Furniture Design Award, Plantronics Sound Innovation Competition, and his work has been exhibited in international exhibitions such as the Salone del Mobile.

Kimming Yap currently works in Milan with Studio Ito and as an independent designer, designing objects, spaces, and visuals.
